Shrnutí v češtině: Na ostrově Maui jsme strávili 4 noci. Celou dobu jsme stanovali.
We decided to hire a small car for our 4 days on Maui and when we went to collect it they were out of economy cars and gave us one 2 classes above
We spent our time in Maui mainly visiting different beaches along the west shore. One spot we loved was called Kahekili Beach Park. When we first drove in after our night in the camp we thought it must be a private park for resort guests - lovely green lawns leading to the beautiful beach, pristine toilets and clean picnic tables and grills. The snorkeling was great too - the reef was colourful with lots of fish (M even saw a giant sea turtle).
On our last full day on Maui we also drove the popular Road to Hana, which is a 40 mile drive from north to east along the coast. It is claimed to one of the most beautiful drives in the world. The drive takes around 3 hours due to the hairpin loops and bends along the cliffs, across narrow one-way bridges, through exotic rainforest, bamboo forest and past waterfalls. At the end of the road we stopped for lunch and a swim on an unusual black lava sand beach.
We camped that night in a park next to the airport for our morning flight to Kauai. Planes were landing over our heads from 3am and there were weird guys sleeping in trucks all around us – so let’s say not the best night’s sleep.
