A slower paced day today to allow us to settle in and enjoy our fabulous surroundings. We have a lovely stroll along the sea walk path. It's quite windy, but beautiful sunshine once again. The views are stunning; wooden logs scattered on the beaches, deep blue sea and mountains, some snow capped, in the distance.

We venture into town, much excitement from the locals about an Art festival and a Pink Salmon festival both on today. We head to the Art one first, lots of local artists displaying their artwork in little white gazebos. Dylan leads us to the music which is the local youth orchestra playing violins. Both Dylan and Taya are captivated by it, and Taya claps along. Dylan finds lots of shiny silver fish on the pavement and runs and jumps on them each in turn. We explore a giant spider sculpture climbing up a wall, then chase shadows over a stepping stone path.

Emma meets a friendly but slightly mad local. She asks if we went to Stanley Park in Vancouver because she remembers her trip there once when she was a child. Hasn't been since! She imagines that we are looking forward to going home to the UK so we can see Prince George. Pretty sure we won't be invited round for a royal cuddle! Plenty more new babies born whilst we have been away, so looking forward to lots of non royal baby cuddles. She also wanted to talk about Princess Diana's death which she described as one of the worst things that has ever happened. Very sad, I agree, but I can think of a few other things that would top that list!

We find a cafe selling excellent sandwiches which we take away for a picnic lunch on some beaches by the sea. Perfect setting and yummy sandwiches. Dylan has two turns on the bouncy castles at the Salmon festival and Rich Is disappointed to find that the free salmon hasn't yet been cooked.

Nap time for the children back at the house. Emma swings in the hammock, and does a little more planning for the children's joint birthday party. It will be on Saturday 21st September in Oxted. Today's job was looking at the best part, the cakes.

We spent the afternoon playing at the lovely house, making the most of the fantastic garden and decking area which leads to the beach. We played mini cricket, and Dylan had a little coaching from Grandad. He is keener to hit the ball to hit the stumps. He eventually settles for being an umpire, blowing his whistle whilst we play. Grandad later gets him to hone his throwing to try to hit the stumps. He does pretty well. They also have a good game of football with lots of raucous laughter coming from the garden.

Bolognese Pasta for dinner cooked by chef Grandma. The best eater tonight was Taya. Not sure where she packs it all. Bath time together in the most ginormous bath. It's more like a hot tub size and shape.

After the children are sleeping Rich lights a fire for us and we introduce Liz and Ian to the wonderful world of s'mores, washed down with a nice glass of red wine, while the sun sets on another lovely day.

Hi All,
You certainly are rocking Vancouver. You all look so healthy and relaxed. Looks like Dylan is the little tornado!! Every time I see a photo of the children they appear to have grown, all the outdoor activities with the sunshine vitamin. The house on Vancouver Island is lovely and plenty of space to relax if one wants to although with two little ones almost impossible and when they are awake you will be wanting to spend time with them. Carry on enjoying as time passes so quickly.
Take care,
Love to all,
Gwen & Doug
