Oh how nice to sleep in a comfy bed and walk on a carpet. Great night's sleep had by all the Kemptons. The Cheynes jet lag is improving. Dylan enjoyed his own bedroom and first night with a proper duvet.
Grandad Ian meets his little granddaughter for the very first time whilst she's covered in food eating her breakfast.
We opt to stay at the house today, settle in, and enjoy our fabulous surroundings. Dylan plays with his new toys tirelessly from 8am until 3pm until we dare to suggest he might like to go to the local park. Such a great house, so much space and comfort, we love it, but best of all watching Dylan run around from room to room collecting more toys for his games is fabulous
Dylan has some lovely stories with Grandma, the first books we have had (other than in bookshops) since we have been away. He also finally gets his hands on the cars that Grandma has been collecting for him. He has seen them many times on Skype and FaceTime and has been itching to play with them. He is thrilled.
Rich takes a stroll to stock up on some alcohol for later - woo hoo!
This afternoon we walk to the local park and its fantastic- playground, open space, and a splash park. Swings for both first, then Dylan spends most if his time on the digger digging up the gravel. He has various helpful assistants to help him master the technique. Taya enjoys the slide but mostly plays with her new windmill spinning it in the wind.
A tentative attempt at playing in the splash park but Dylan barely gets wet, so we'll save that for another day. Lovely walk back house spotting, then on on with the dinner. Our first big family meal and it is thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The children haven't been in a bath for a few months but play happily together after dinner with some bath toys from SA. Taya mainly wants to stand up in the bath now which is a bit different to the last time she bathed.
