Travel day today but we are oh so excited. Off to Canada to meet the Cheyne grandparents, with Taya meeting Grandad Ian for the very first time.

Slightly hectic early morning packing up the last of the van. We are supposed to return the van clean 'in at least the condition that you collected it'. Well, we give it a good go, with limited space and cleaning equipment. Fill up with petrol and gas and we are ready

Just a short hop to the Cruise America to drop the van. They didn't even check the cleanliness! Taxi to LA ready for the next leg of our adventure.

Journey, and airport arrival, timed around naps, and food, as usual, but we are scuppered by Emma becoming a criminal by setting off the alarm at the airport. They had to call for reinforcements to re search her. The number of times we heard "she's alarmed with the baby".My favourite was "ma'am you need to come with us to a secure room, please don't touch the children they need to stay with their father". Well needless to say Emma had no offending articles on her and was set free pretty quickly, with no explanation, nor apology. The little lady has missed her nap time in all the excitement and only manages about half an hour before its time to board the plane. Another delay at the gate, this time Taya has to wait for her feed whilst they mess around. We are apparently supposed to have two parts to our tickets and we have only one. They would have been stapled together we were told. Emma gently points out that there is no evidence of a staple. They then go back to check in for us and find the paper tickets they were after that had been forgotten.

Our first flight where we have been given extra seats - woo hoo! Two for Taya and Emma and Three for Rich and Dylan. Taya is an absolute delight on this flight. She sits nicely on Emma's lap and plays with the inflight magazine and safety leaflets for well over an hour. Emma thoroughly enjoys the flight. We have a window seat, and the views are staggering; coastline, lakes, and snow capped mountains the whole way. We order a cheese and fruit platter for Taya's dinner and she happily munches her way through nearly all of it, much to the astonishment of the guy sitting alongside us. Her favourite was definitely the Brie. Dylan is entertained on the iPad. Excellent flight, and a few compliments from nice passengers, which is always nice.

All our bags have been searched when we collect them, and they kindly bust the padlock and zip on one of our bags. Pretty annoying since all our bags have US security padlocks, so they can access them. We are met by a man in a grey suit. Well, this is a little different. The nice man is driving an enormous stretch limo....... this is definitely more like it! Dylan says the car is "absolutely long and big". Hilarious seeing the children in their car seats at the end of the limo, we are so lucky.

The car drops us at our new home for the next seven nights. Oh wow, Grandma Lizzie, this is amazing. We are in an area of Vancouver called Point Grey in a beautiful five bedroom house over three floors. It is just super. The best part is, that because we have rented it via AirBnB, it's a family's house, with three young boys, and all the toys any little one could ever dream of. Dylan is beside himself, he doesn't know where to go first. He finally settles on the playroom with all the cars and trains on the train track. Dylan has three bedrooms to choose from, and he races round to make sure he has the best one. It's past bedtime for Taya when we arrive so we pop her to bed before exploring some more, and await the grand arrival. G and G arrive back from their day trip on the train to Whistler. Sooooo lovely to see them and Dylan is pleased to show them to where their bedroom is, quickly followed by a game of trains for Grandad and a peek in to see Taya for Grandma. We spend the evening catching up in the lounge on the sofas. So pleased to all be here together. It's going to be fabulous and we haven't even seen any of Vancouver just yet.

Today also saw the emergence of Taya's second front tooth.
