A few minutes down the road into Santa Barbara for today's fun. Sun is shining, sea is glistening, and the palm trees are huge. Gorgeous place. We have a stroll along the sea front and onto the wharf whilst Taya has a nap. Then the main activity for the morning is hiring a bike cart for us all to have a pedal along the glorious seafront. Dylan tries out all the different varieties whilst Rich pays.

Two kidlets, two adults, and a picnic, and we are off to explore. The children are upfront sat next to each other on a bench seat and the adults are at the back with the hard work of pedalling. Rich has the only working steering wheel and he is in control of the brake too. The children love it and think its hilarious. Dylan likes ringing the bell to get people out of the way on the bike path. Really good fun had by all. We cycle for over an hour until we reach a playground. Dylan loves the playground, especially the swing, today. We meet a lovely American family with a daughter the same age as Dylan who want to know where we've been and what we've been up to, whilst the children laugh together on the swing. Back to drop the bike cart off and a speedy lunch.

Rich and Emma have a lovely lunchtime walk in the opposite direction to where we cycled, down to the marina. Beautiful beach, views, and boats. A yummy ice cream cools us down on our hot walk.

When the children wake up we are back to the playground for a quick swing together, Dylan makes friends with a little boy who wants to hug him a lot, and us! Then the treat for all of us, a free splash pool just next to the playground. It's a big pool but just about knee deep. We all head in and cool off. Lots of fun and splashing. Taya's favourite teether is a toothbrush, so we have one in the pool with us, Dylan uses it to pretend to paint the sides of the pool with different coloured water colours. He then pretends to paint Emma's toe nails, perhaps we should teach him to do it properly, it could be very useful whilst cooking the dinner or talking on the phone.

Yummy dinner again, marinated pork and jacket potatoes. Trying to eat up everything we have in the fridge and freezer before we hand the van back. Just tonight and tomorrow night left in the van now.

Three books finished for Emma now - Insurgent by Veronica Roth. All out of books now so will get on with reading about our next destination - Canada.

One of our favourite beachside days in a lovely pretty place. Super day.
