Back to Las Vegas Strip today to see some more hotels / casinos at the far end of the strip. We take the monorail / sky train to MGM, and Dylan is really excited to add this to his list of modes of transport. He spends the journey telling us again and again that he has never been on a sky train before. We love that he thinks we might not know this; like he might have been on one sometime when we happened not to be there.

Today's list is the MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay, all these are linked by walkways, so it limited our outside time. We almost forgot it was so steamy outside. Dylan reminds Emma each time we are outside that "this is the hottest place you have ever been mummy". Maybe she laboured that point a little too much yesterday. We really like these casinos, which are much less dreary and miserable than some we went to yesterday.

Dylan puts our parenting skills to the test as he refuses to leave a toy shop, and has a full scale meltdown. He sobs and sobs, "please mummy can we go back to the toys, I really loved them". Another cracker was "but mummy I really didn't understand". Oh little man, you understand everything! We have a little one to feed and an infrequent shuttle bus to catch, not to mention the not giving in part. Sometimes being a parent is really tough.

Back at Sam's Town it's time for a Las Vegas style 'all you can eat' buffet. As we queue to get in, Dylan has already decided he would like pizza. We explain that it's a buffet and we don't know what they will have, but if there is pizza, he can definitely have it. His response "we could just ask the chef if he can cook it". We pay on the way in - kiddies free which is a bonus, and Dylan asks the lady if they have any pizza. Emma takes Dylan round the immense number of food choices and tells him he can have anything he fancies. He chooses pizza (obviously), mashed potato, special rice, spring rolls, carrots and prawns. The food is really yummy and we all thoroughly enjoy it. Baby led weaning is so much easier when someone else has done the cooking and there are so many options. Rich struggles to decide what he fancies when presented with so many options. Dylan's face is a picture at the desert counter. He settles on three different small deserts; eats one, then asks to take the others away for another time. Emma eats all three of hers.

We feel we have seen enough of Las Vegas by day. Enjoyed our time here and got a feel of the place and we liked the hotels, but there is not much more for us here to do with the children, so we are driving to our first American National Park tomorrow - Zion.
