Another lovely day in paradise. Early stroll on the beach for Rich and Taya whilst Dylan and Emma played at home and face timed SA.

Today we went to Haleiwa town which is about a 15 minute drive from our house. There are some lovely shops selling surf gear (of course), and lots of local crafts. The boys both needed new flip flops as daily wear has taken its toll. An amazing selection of diddy flip flops for the little man, not like the UK, where we struggled to find any at all. Supply and demand obviously. Dylan also took a shine to a Gorilla, a mascot of the brand Sun Bum, which he found in the Quicksilver shop. He was delighted when we found a little one in another shop which we bought for him. It says on the label "rub my tummy for sunny days and big waves". Well it certainly worked today.

After naps we went back down to our beach, but this time a little further on to find some warm pools of shallow water created in the sand. The waves are monstrous, we've never seen anything like it. Lots and lots of surfers and body boarders in the water and loads of spectators like us gathered watching in awe and snapping away. These people are fearless and so skilled it truly is an amazing sight. They make it look so easy that you almost want to leap in and join them. We will have to keep a close eye on Rich this week as he is feeling brave! Instead we retire to the calm warm shallow pools further back on the beach. Our house came complete with a body board which Dylan has adopted for the week and likes to drag around behind him. Dylan had an absolute ball in the water with his body board, running and leaping around with it. It apparently was even better than sandcastles yesterday. Taya also seems to love the water and sat happily splashing and laughing at her brother. She is still super keen to eat the sand!

Home for dinner - homemade (not by us) lasagna and jacket potatoes for all. Taya is doing really well with her food, particularly breakfasts and dinners. Lunch always seems to be a bit more of a rush for us unless we have a picnic made up. We smile at how far she has come in a few short weeks and how enjoyable it is to all sit down and eat dinner together as a family.

The boys head out to the beach after dinner to play bat and ball, watch the last surfers, and watch the sunset (or go splash into the ocean as Dylan described it).

Our little man is growing up so incredibly fast. Showered by himself for about half an hour tonight which is normal now and 'read' himself his own bedtime story on the iPad. Then for the last week he has asked to go straight to his bed by himself at nap time. No cuddles first, he just runs over to his mattress, lies down, puts his thumb in, waves Ellie round in the air for a bit, and goes to sleep. Tonight the same at bedtime. We will miss our bedtime snuggles with him. Slow down little man, next you'll be wanting to cook your own dinner.

What an incredible adventure it all is. What memories for Mum and Dad! They'll have to plan another trip for the little ones to remember!!! Can't believe they have been traveling for 50 something days. Seems like the weather has been nonstop gorgeous too.

Wow! Just been taking a look at your blog, really jealous it sounds like you are all having a ball. Wish we had the guts to do something like this.
Can't read tomorrow's blog, not sure how you manage to find the time to have so much fun and write about it.

Hey Kate, lovely to hear from you. Hope you and your little men are well. We are having a great time. I mainly do the blog whilst putting Taya to bed, with the luxury of having Rich around to take Dylan out on an adventure. Also lots of evening time to fill with the little people asleep mainly in the same room as us and no housework to do :)
