For €15 we took a ferry from Killimer to Tarbert, across the Shannon River. It took about 20 minutes or so, and was quite nice.
After wandering around the tiny upper deck area we sat in the car, eating more soda bread and studying the rest of the route for the day. Much of the vehicles onboard the small carrier were commercial ones, which was interesting to see. Fortunately there was only one (now dreaded) tour bus. They should really just build a bridge.
