Now that we had decided where we were going it was just a matter of getting there.  There was still a while to go to get to the part of the coast that we were aiming for.  But the kids really wanted to go for a swimming so before setting off today we headed across the road to the beach for a quick swim.  But the water had other ideas, unfortunately it was low tide again and given the giant tides they have here the water was a long way away.  So the kids had to settle for a quick play on the mud flats.  Today's game was to make two sand arenas and put all the hermit crabs they could find in one and all the sea snails in the other.

Then it was back to the car to start heading to Exmouth or as far as we could make it.  We didn't get far before we decided to stop in at the Old Roebourne Prison, the building looked nice  so we thought it would be worth a look.  There was some interesting old things inside and old photos, but it was not very big so we were back on the road again soon after

The next stop was Karatha for some food shopping and some lunch.  Then we really set about trying to cover some kilometers.  We ended us stopping around 4:30 at a free camp that looked nice, it had plenty of room and some cow to make it interesting.  We picked a spot near the river (although it didn't have any water in it) and set up camp while the kids made friends with a family that arrived shortly after us.

Harry thinks the best thing about free camps is that you get to have bon fires.  We couldn't disappoint him so tonight's dessert was marshmallows and damper on the bonfire with the kids new friends.

Emily's main complaint about free camps is that they don't have showers, so we decided that it was time we tried out the shower in the van.  Emily was the first to try it and thought it was great.   We all agreed it was one of the best showers we have had.

Barry and Marcy on

Is that the first shower that Emily has had since you all left home? She must have smelt like Barry the camel.
Next Monday is Marcy's 70th birthday and you are all welcome to come to her party. One of the activities is to see some photos that we took on our overseas trip I am not sure if we memtioned that we have about 2999 photos!
The party will be held at MacDonalds.
