So we decided to spend our 4th of July holiday weekend in Budapest. 4th of July is not really celebrated here in Europe, but I still get a day off work, so might as well take advantage of the long weekend.
So the day started off not as expected. Stacy woke up with a cold. It came from nowhere, but it was there all day today. We contemplated cancelling the weekend, but Stacy decided she was not feeling that bad. So we boarded our 7AM luxury bus to Budapest. The bus ride was only 3 hours and very comfortable. The scenery was beautiful. The were wind turbines everywhere and lots of farmland. There were huge fields of Sunflowers that the girls thought were amazing.
So once we got to Budapest, we quickly figured out how the Metro and trams worked Great Central market which is indoors. We walked the rows, looking at all the fruits, veggies, cheeses and meats. We found a couple of vendors selling a kilogram of raspberries for about 4 USD. That's 2.2 lbs of raspberries!! Of course we had to get some of them!
At this point, Stacy was done (and so was I). We walked a long way, so we grabbed a tram back to the metro stop and took the metro home.
Hopefully tomorrow Stacy feels better and we can do some more exploring.
