It's true, we left and came back - and this was certainly not due to the weather!  As whilst February we have been promised that Robe comes into it's own weather wise - it has not proved itself yet!

So let me fill you in..... the busy season was over, the camp site was quiet so it was time to move on, our time here has been ...interesting, especially as far as work for Fabio, without going into detail, we were happy to be leaving.  Two weeks notice was given and we were looking forward to going.  Luckily during that time we had the Prowse family coming, who had just moved back to Adelaide after a couple of years in Perth.  We couldn't wait to see them.

We practically followed them back to their house in Balhannah, where we parked the van at their house for a week before we were to then head back down to the Great Ocean Road.  The Adelaide Hills are splendid and whilst I could not be that far away from the ocean, I can certainly see the appeal of this lovely spot in South Australia. The children have a freedom here that they do not have in a bigger town and they certainly made the most of it.

A trip to the German influenced town of Hahndorf was lovely and of course we couldn't leave without stuffing our fat little faces with the pubs German speciality; which seemed to consist of sausages, meat, sausages and then more meat.  Not forgetting of huge a huge blob of saukraut.

We were all loving being back in the van and started planning the next stage of our adventures, until one of those phone calls happens that changes everything.  The caravan park that Fabio was working in had sacked the managers and wanted us to come back to assist them whilst they got new managers organised.  As I said before, there were issues - nothing to do with us, I hasten to add and now they were gone... could we give Robe another shot?  It's warmer in February, everyone had told us.  We had to go that way anyway to get to the next stage of our trip....they offered more money, it would be rude not to....so here we are!!

The atmosphere with the staff is so much better and whilst we would still rather be on the road, hopefully by doing the right thing for the caravan park group, the favour will be repaid when we are looking for work at their other parks around the country. Also with the busy season over, we are taking the opportunity to go see the surrounding area better.

Beachport with a population of just 400 was exceptional.  With one of the longest jettys in Australia, it did not disappoint.  It was cold and windy but had a lovely local feel about it.  We went for coffee and Fabio ended up buying a 'steamer' (a winter wetsuit) that is needed down in this part of the world as the children like to surf and Fabio being their teacher needs to be in the water.  The children floated in the Siloam Lake, a salt water lake 7 times saltier than the ocean (the infamous Dead Sea is 8.6 times saltier than the ocean).  The  children floated easily and loved the buoyancy.

So we intend to leave early March as obviously heading to Melbourne for the Formula One Grand Prix and have the Great Ocean Road to conquer first.   Really looking forward to both.

Hopefully the next update will be full of all our new adventures.

Until then ....... tell me about YOUR adventures!
