Many thought we couldn't do it....WE thought we couldn't do it......but we HAVE LEFT Coral Bay!!

So just thought I would summerise our last few weeks.....

The return of Geoff and Jordan brought much excitement to the family after the tearful departure of The Flock of Peacocks (the family that were our friends and neighbours for 8 weeks). They brought with them the wonderful Bruno. Jordan joined The Begoli School, he was quite excited until I told him he had to learn the school song (which I do not believe I have shared with you just yet - so to the tune of Tic Toc by Ke$ha sing:

"Wake up in the morning getting ready for school,
There's no uniforms to put on, 'cause they're just not cool!
Our teachers our mum and our daddy too,
Because we go to the Begoli school, the Begoli school...."

There is a second verse, but just how keen are you??

There was another murder (mystery night) that needed to be solved, so we got dressed up again and equally I had about as much idea at the beginning of the evening as I had even after all the clues. (It's an alcohol thing!) Trying to solve the mystery was just a side issue to enjoying our friends in The Bay.

Johnny, Fabio's BFF, left for a few weeks but luckily we had his mum to replace him.  Josephine joined our family and we spent many an evening together.

Another exciting day was a rainy day out at Five Fingers or as I like to call it Four Thumbs,  the crew rocked up and we had footy fun on the sand, and some brave souls waded into the water.  Insisting it was warmer in the water than out.  I took them at their word.

On the way back we stopped at the boat ramp and saw the resident Queensland groper called Merv.  He is HUGE and on the last two days of our stay, the children snorkelled with him!!  Not this girl!!  They said that seeing him under water was as thrilling as spotting the golden arches of a Mcdonalds!  Hey it's remote out here!

Another highlight saved for the end of our trip was the Scenic Flight.  With only enough room for 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children, well we definately needed the pilot so someone had to miss out.....sorry Fabio!  The view was awesome! The crystal clear waters made the reef looked so amazing. Of course the photos do not do it justice.  There was also a small pod of whales just outside of the reef and one was just sitting (?) there, smashing his tail on the water.  Fantastic.  Also from the air saw a shark.....inside the reef....not 50 metres from shore.  But hey! Who wants to go snorkelling??

Our last night at the pub was a full seven days from our departure and we nearly stayed the 7th night to do it all again.  But with everyone greeting us with a "You still here!?"  we thought we really should make a move and so had a more personal 'last night' at our camp site.  Thought that was a great idea until the next morning and packing up all the last bits with Panadol in one hand and a Barroca in the other!

We all left with a heavy heart and although we know there are many beautiful places still for us to see.  Sometimes the people you meet make a place, the friends we met in Coral Bay certainly did that for us.  We will miss you all.

So that's it from Coral Bay - although for how long we are not sure!
