I retraced my steps from yesterday to get to Lydgate State Park. It's a recommended beach in my guidebook but I found it so-so. Not much surf this Thanksgiving Day.
About 2pm, I started to drift back south to a shopping area nearby. It was pretty dead but some stores were closed due to the holiday. I discovered other Islanders come to Kauai for a getaway, even a couple from the wetter northern coast of this island came for a few days. I thought about a lunch at Bubba's Burgers, but the "Fresh Food Sucks" sign outside resulted in a 180 degree turn, smartly too. No lunch.
I'd heard a good place to visit was down the road by the botanical garden so that was good for an hour, then a stop at Baby Beach for a bit of sand time with my book. It's a nice curving beach about 175 yds long where the water is protected by a reef making it a good spot for snorkelers and ankle-biters.
I anticipate much the same rushing about tomorrow... I have been enjoying the early morning star-gazings. I'll try to get a photo tonight!
