We learned that things move a lot slower in Indonesia. That information came quickly to me when I struggled into the mass of people all clambering for the ticket counter in the Jakarta Airport. There was some flooding in Jakarta and this delayed flights (including Mike's, let him tell you about that) and stranding people in the airport over night. So I joined the throng and stood ass to stomach in line from 4pm to around 7pm, my plane was supposed to leave at 6pm but we didn't depart until 10:30. From Jakarta, the plane made two stops which left me arriving in Manado (on Sulawesi) at 8am the following day. I got a room and emailed Mike to find out his progress. He got in the next day and we quickly made plans to escape dirty crowded Manado for the island of Bunaken, a one hour boat ride north. Bunaken is popular with divers but since this is the rainy season, there weren't too many people going there. We stayed in a great guest house, Panorama, where we got a bungalow for ten dollars each a night that including three great meals a day featuring fresh fruit and fish all the time. We had a great time there and spent a week mostly hanging out with some nice boating excursions here and there. Now, we're in Manado for a bit until Mike gets over his food related illness. From here, we're headed south to Gorontalo by car which'll take about eight hours and then we'll catch a ferry further south to the Togean Islands. I'll get some pics up of all our adventures to date soon.

hola there manado,
Sounds like you finally slowed down to my pace, maybe thanks to Indonesia itself... That fresh fruit and fish sounded great until the part about food sickness... Hope to see ya in the dova,
