The last time I updated, we were in Nong Khai about to cross into Laos. Since then, we've headed through Vientiane to Veng Viang where were spent three days and nights. There, we swam into caves, tubed on Christmas and mike was robbed twice. There were lots of young tourists from all over and it was a fun party scene but tiring. Then, we caught a long bus ride to Luang Prabang and checked out that city for two days. It was ok, lots of more upscale tourists and the town had a very European feel to it. Mike and I enjoyed a shot of snake and scorpian wine. We took a seven hour boat ride north from there to a little town called Nong Kiaew. It was a nice though cramped ride and Nong Kiaew was quiet. We saw some more caves and celebrated New Years early with some locals over many shots of Lao Lao whiskey and some BeerLao. Hung over, we took a windy bus ride to Udomxai, a town to the northwest of Nong Kiaew. Now we're here planning our next steps. I'd write more but uploading all these pics is gonna take a lot of time so I'll let them tell the story. Actually, it's taking too long to put all the pics up so there's only about half with no description. Sorry, you'll have to imagine what is going on in each one.

Happy New Year.
I love seeing these adventures so I can live vicariously thru you--while we are having rainy, cold days in pdx.
Amazing pictures and Mona likes to follow your travels too.
Cheers!
