Where I stayed

We flew from Amsterdam to Prague and successfully navigated the metro and buses to the hostel. Prague is a beautiful city, lots of bridges, a big castle on a hill and tons of old buildings everywhere. We've had a nice time these last four days here. We've walked across the Charles bridge, seen the big astrological clock, and drank more than our fair share of beer. Two days ago, we made friends with some random Czech guys in a bar (Martin, Martin, and Melosh). They insisted on buying us giant shots of Czech rum and we reciprocated with Jim Beam. Then, they led us around to a few other spots before we staggered home around 3am. These late nights are getting to be killer but we'll persevere as best we can. Last night, we went out with some spainish students and ended up buying two bottles of absinthe. That led to a fun drinking game followed by two out of the three spainiards puking their guts out. Today, we visited the Communism Musuem (which is next to a Macdonalds and above a casino, they're quick to point out). It was small but had some interesting exhibits about the rise and fall of communism in the Czech Republic. If anyone is reading this blog for information about traveling in this area, I'd recommend this hostel (Chili Hostel), it's not directly in the center so the surrounding area is less touristy and cheaper. All in all, Prague is not the dirt cheap destination we had hoped for but the prices are resonable and the beer and food are both good. For the rest of the day, we'll be regaining our equilibrium and preparing to travel south to Cesky Krumlov tomorrow, where we'll stay for a few days before embarking towards Slovakia.
