There is not much to say about Guilin, We only stayed here the night so that we could get the ferry to Yangshuo the next day.  It was definitely considerably smaller and less built up than anywhere else we had been in China which was quite a treat, also it was so much warmer, yay.

We dropped our bags at the hostel and set off to find some food to make a packed lunch for our boat to Yangshuo, the boat does come with a free lunch but we have read far too many scary reviews about the food being prepared off the back of the boat and generally didn't fancy food poisoning.

On our walk we saw a little market so decided to take a look, it was full of the usual tat that we had seen around China but still it was nice to have a little wonder after so long cooped up on a train.  We noticed a really nice looking hair dresser, just like a salon you would see in the UK so Tim decided to brave it and try to get his hair cut.  This was a completely hysterical process.  We go into the hairdresser looking generally confused and scared.  Tim shows a man a picture of Gary Barlow,  next minute Tim is having his hair washed and is in the chair.  I am no expert at mens hairdressing, but this hairdresser seemed to do the most precise and accurate hairdressing I have ever seen, all the trimming and layering was done with scissors and a comb and the clippers only came out for the finishing touches.  I was concerned that this haircut was going to cost a small fortune, but even by Chinese standards this was cheap at 8.

Job done and Tim non longer looks like a microphone.

off we go to Yangshuo for some R&R in the sun (hopefully).
