Paul and Erin Smith drove us about an hour out of the city today into the beautiful country-side of Bulgaria, a small town called Majare. Paul and Titus spent several hours fly fishing, and Daniela and Erin explored around the river and a small town called Majare.
While the guys were fishing, Erin and Daniela walked through fields and ended up walking through a small field of crops. We ended up walking into town and saw a gypsee man in horse pulled cart. Some people kept pigs, goats, and horses. We also saw a shepherd herding his sheep in a field.
We had a nice lunch just outside of town and tried some traditional food. We had roasted pepper with a fried cheese inside and a chicken that was tasty. We got to eat outside in the cool air, much like the climate of Flagstaff.
We headed up a bit higher to see some of the beautiful views and stopped at a hizha. It is similar to a hostile. Backpackers stop in for food and a place to sleep while hiking through Bulgaria. We saw some of the most beautiful mountains the country has to offer.
Then it was off for more fishing, the guys actually caught a few this time. Erin and Daniela found wild strawberries along the river. They were incredibly sweet!
We headed home, Paul and Erin's home, and were pleased to have our missing suitcase arrive.
Time to sack out for the night - leka nosht - good night in Bulgarian. :-)
