Our journey on the BA Boeing 747 (Jumbo jet) was uneventful and both of us managed to get some sleep. Thank goodness for the upgrade and Michael's (dad's) foresight to book our seats together beforehand. It made our journey much more pleasant. We arrived in Cape Town at 9.00 am (there is a 2 hour difference between here and home like Greece). A good humoured taxi driver met us at the airport and took us straight to our hotel. It is hot and sunny but very windy today. We couldn't take the cable car up Table Mountain as it is so windy and the cloud is cascading down from the top of the mountain which incidentally we can see from our hotel room. Behind the hotel are The Lion's Head Mountain and Signal Hill. The hotel looks like three houses from the front but actually is a spacious modern hotel inside in the centre of Cape Town. Everybody we have met so far have been very helpful from the proprietor telling us where to visit and which are the no go areas. Once we settled in we walked into town and investigated a bit to get our bearings then on through the Botanical Gardens, saw the Parliament building, St George's Cathedral and then went to Mount Nelson Hotel (The Nelly) for afternoon tea. There is an awful lot we can do here and I am sure we won't see everything we want to by the time our stay in Cape Town is over.
