Miles travelled: 2970

On Thursday, we drove up to Asheville NC to visit Anna's great-aunt. We had a nice visit and lunch with her, and then drove part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a beautiful area of hilly woodlands, although unfortunately the good weather we've been having suddenly disappeared as the remnants of Tropical Storm Tammy rolled in. Pouring rain took out our plans to visit the Taylor family's mountain house, so we hung around in Greenville with Anna's brother Rob and their cat Ocho. (as in, already on her 8th life) With rain still coming down on Friday, we did an indoor thing -- visited the BMW factory in Spartanburg. Here they make Z4 and X5 models and we saw much of the assembly line and the adjoining BMW museum. Very cool.

Then on Saturday, the weather cleared up! Just in time for our excursion to Lake Jocassee, about an hour from Greenville. Anna's aunt & uncle, Mary & Homer Overstreet, rented a pontoon boat and we put-putted up the lake to various coves & waterfalls. It was a relaxing time with family just hangin' out on the water.
