We thought we couldn't get hotter than two pastey Brits in Rio, but we we're wrong. Paraty, down the coast, is EVEN hotter!
We spent our last day in Rio taking in the sights of the Centro district and Santa Teresa. Centro is pretty much just the business district with tower blocks and offices everywhere. It wasn't the crazy mugging zone we had been lead to expect, just a bit boring. After visiting an impressively modern cathedral we stopped in at C&A! Apparantly, it's still cool in Brazil! We needed a white t-shirt for Matthew - he only brought dark t-shirts, which in this heat leads to allsorts of trouble with overheating and sweat patches. The sweat 'gilet' he donned on my birthday night out in Mojo made a comeback!!
We then caught a streetcar up the steepest streets to Santa Teresa, an old style, village-feel place. Matt rode on the edge of the streetcar, hanging on with all the young Brazilian lads. He felt really cool, but little old ladies were managing to do it too, as the car jolted over high bridges, with nothing but a bit of chicken wire stopping you from plumeting to certain death on the busy roads below.
After lunch, we were so hot we headed to Ipanema Beach for the rest of the day. It was so beautful, different from Copacabana, although it's just the next stretch of sand. The sea was amazing, so fresh and clear, just what you need in this heat!
Carnaval starts tonight here in Paraty, so we're looking forward to the samba drums, the costumes and whatever else awaits!
Right, my eyelids are sweating sat here, so I'll go and join Matt in the pool....hope the weather's good for everyone at home...hee, hee!!

PS - Thanks for the comments and messages...love to everyone x

It all sounds brilliant - and so surreal, with it being dull and freezing over here in Blighty!
Keep having loads of fun, I'm sure you will, and let us know what you wear for carnival! x x x
