This morning we got ourselves together and took our tender guts back to the bus terminal to get the next bus to Choroni. Having had a little experience of the workings of the bus stations now, we found the correct bus and waited until it was full enough to leave.

Now, we should point out that there are your common-or-garden variety luxury buses in Venezuela, but for short trips they have some pretty amazing specimens. Old american school buses seem to be the order of the day.

As we discovered, the two most important parts of the bus are (i) the size and number of speakers, and (ii) the number of reflective stickers and tinted windows you can have. Tyres, brakes, clutches etc, just aren't that big of a deal you understand.

The 2hr trip was spectacular, winding up madly through the mountains and down to Choroni and Puerto Colombia, 2 tiny towns about 5 minutes walk apart. We found a little posada and chilled out in a big way for the next day or so.

We found a pasta place to get some food in our very empty systems and then the next morning headed to Playa Grande, a beautiful Caribbean beach with palm trees, clear blue waters and plenty of sunshine... The perfect way to spend our 'sickie'!
