Where I stayed
Great, we had made it to Brazil!
Only small problem being we didn't know a word of Portugese and had no dictionary or phrase book. Not a massive issue straight away as the hostel could sort us out with a beer and spoke English. Ordering dinner out was more fun.
Its more like bloody Russian than Spanish when you hear it spoken!
We tried not to stray too far from home, the area had an unpolished vibe about it, the kind that makes you want to get back in the compound of the hostel (Electric gates, barbed wire and CCTV everywhere.).
The other thing we noticed about crossing the border to Brazil was everything cost at least 50% more. There were much more in the way of chains, McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc and there were old style Beetle cars all over the place.
After the trip to the falls we had a euphoric night of beers/rum at the hostel, chatting over the days events. Neither of us have ever seen anything like it in our lives!
