Where I stayed

The initial plan was to fly direct from Cambodia to Kuala Lumpar.  However, the flights got a bit too expensive and there is a $25 US departure tax on all flights out of Cambodia to add on further bumping up the price.  We decided instead to head south by road and train which meant another trip to Bangkok.

The trip to Bangkok was pretty smooth.  It took us around 4 hours to get to the border.  Took over an hour at the border as it was quite busy, followed by a lovely lunch while waiting for the next coach to take us to Bangkok.  We arrived later than expected, but the trip was fine.

The bus dropped us off in the Khao San Road area, so that's where we stayed.  Our first hotel was ok but not great so we decided to move in the morning to get wifi access.  We've previously been to Khoa San Road a couple of times but hadn't really explored the area so were pleasantly surprised when walking around.  Again, lots of night markets, food stalls and all the trees on the dual carriageway were decorated with pretty fairy lights to celebrate the Kings birthday on 5th December.

Khao San Road is a great location to see the main sights of Bangkok.  This time we went up Golden Mount, a man made mount which has a temple at the top and great views of the city.  We were there just in time to see around 100 monks walking up to the temple in a long line surrounded by photographers.

Couldn't stop myself from buying a few more souvenirs, so it's another parcel home tomorrow.
