Barnaby and his friends arrived in Melaka. While they were there they took part in the River Festival, visited various museums, tasted the local cuisine and even saw the King! Melaka has been a very important trading centre since the 14th Century. It has been ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British, until the Federation of Malaya was formed on 31st August 1957.
