Where I stayed
Some Croation place
So we catch a bus ride from Punta Arenas to reach the Madgellin Straight which separates the main continent of South America from the main island at the base....see the map on the right.
The bus then drives onto a huge barge before unloading into Argentina for the remaing bus ride to the end of the earth.
When we arrived i was surprised to see such a civilised city... i mean this is literally the end of the earth so seeing streets, shops and houses in better condition than up north is pretty surprising. I mena this where you catch a ride to Antarctica!
That same day we caught a ferry that took us out around some of the surrounding islands at the base of the continent where we had a constant supply of hot chocolate and cookies as well as seeing the local wildlife and docking off onto one of the ilsands where we could get a panoramic view of both Chile and Argentina
The next day according to our tour was a ´free day´, this means we get to choose how we want to spend the day, so we all decided to take a combined canoe and hike through Tierra Del Fuego National Park (The land of fire).
This turned out to be a pretty impressive day where we began with a cruisy canoe trip through what was pretty much lake placid with a backdrop of the snow capped Andes.
Once out of the water about 1.5 hours later, we dropped the wet gear and head out on what would be our final hike in Patagonia. Long story short, the decision to hike on our free day was totally worth it.
As predicted the hike trail in the park took us through amazing scenery complete with mountains and lakes......which is what Patagonia is famous for and why its my new birth place! No matter what you choose to do in this region it doesnt dissapoint. I strongly recommend everyone visit this region at leat once in their lifetime.
So on day 14 before catching our flight back to Buenos Aires to end the tour, the group celebrated our final night at dinner and ending the night in the first irish pub at the end of the world simply named....Dublin---where they sell green beer
To sum up, the region of Patagonia (both Chile and Argentina) is heaven on earth and just what the chadster has been searching for! The ultimate search for Natural Beauty may have come to end after experiencing this incredible region, unless Canada and Alaska can pull something out of the already filled hat. Good Luck.
For now....Patagonia is my favourite place on planet earth!
Next joureny will take me from La Paz (Bolivia) to Lima (Peru) where i tackel the Amazon and the Inika´s.
Updating the blog soon.
