We drove to St Maries and continued up the St Joe River.  I was not happy because the river was running really high, but as we continued toward Avery the levels dropped as we passed streams which dumped into the St Joe.  By the time we got to Avery, I had decided that the river would be fishable so I stopped and bought a 2 day license.  We continued up river to Turner Flats where we got a campsite near the river.  The site was dry camping without any hookups, but it was only $6 per night because of my senior pass.  We put up the awning, and one of the Sun screens and had a very nice camp.  I went fishing Monday evening just down stream from the trailer and caught 9 beautiful Westslope Cutthroat Trout.  One was somewhere around 18 inches long.  Several were 16 inches and a few were 8 to 10 inches.  Westslope Cutthroat Trout are my favorite fish.  These trout are so beautiful and completely wild fish.  The next morning I fished again and caught some nice fish.  Wednesday we drove the dirt road from Avery to Wallace ID which originally was a railroad track.  This road goes through 7 amazing tunnels and is 30 miles long.  We saw a brown bear running down the road but didn't get any photos as he was in a hurry to get out of sight.  We stopped in Wallace for a beer and then drove the pavement back to our campground.  The paved road distance is 150 miles!  Thursday morning we packed up and departed for Walla Walla where we are going wine tasting with Valerie and Jason.
