Where I stayed
Moose River Campground
We drove up to St. Johnsbury VT and got a site in Moose River Campground. On the way here we stopped in a Shaker Village and learned a little about the Shakers. The Shakers had at their peak 18 villages, but now all that remains are a few keep as historic sites. The Shakers were celibate and we were told that there are only 3 Shakers left living now. We saw some beautiful items made in the Shaker tradition (very fine and delicate wooden boxes and trays, and some exquisite baskets) We got our site for 3 days and I got a Vermont fishing license and fished the Moose River. The river flows right behind our campsite and the river has some nice brook and rainbow trout. I had a great time fishing and actually keep two rainbows for dinner. They were delicious!
The local news says that a storm is coming, so we plan to head south and west on Thursday.
