Took to train to Bathurst, it took 3 hours which should have given us beautiful views of the mountains but it was thick fog all the way.

On arrival we checked into a hotel that over looked the Panorama Race track which is the main thing that Bathurst is famous for.

We where picked up by Charlotte and Baz and taken to the Ashworth residence to meet Darryl, Theresa and of course the lovely Stanley. Stanley is a black Staffie, he is soo cute but not much of a guard dog, he drinks the occasional beer when the weather is hot and likes lots of cuddles.
We had a lovely BBQ and a few drinks before we went into town for the evening.

Christmas day soon arrived and after an early morning swim, we went to the Ashworth's . A lovely sunny relaxed day with far too much to eat. We where joined by some more of Baz's family and it was great to meet them.

Boxing day was a trip out to see  Wattle flats and Sofala which was where Baz spent his early years.  Interesting trip visiting Theresa's mother in Sofala and hearing about the gold panning still done in the area.  Met Charlotte and Baz in the evening in town and were introduced to some of Baz's old school and uni friends.

Each morning when we woke up we could see wild Kangaroo's in the fields and hear the Kookaburra birds it was a very peaceful setting.

Back to Sydney on the 27th and this time the train trip had lovely views as the weather had cleared for us.

There are currently bad floods Monsoons and Typhoons in Queensland, we are supposed to be starting a road trip there on the 3rd Jan, fingers crossed it clears in time but not looking good...
