Greetings from Taichung, Taiwan!
The weather here is mighty HOT HOT HOT and very muggy. I arrived in Taipei on the 10th in the afternoon, took the High Speed Rail to Taichung and met my family friend Cindy. For my first night she and her husband took me to Fongjia, a very very famous night market in Taiwan. It is very large and has lots and lots of small shops which sell very pretty and unique things. Also, the street food is soo good! I ate some roasted squid, some spicy korean niengao (it's like thick asian pasta), a mango smoothie, some fried pork on lettuce with seaweed sauce and some small snacks. It was soo good! I also tried some rice soaked in pigs blood...but that wasn't exactly my favorite :p
The next day, early in the morning Cindy and I took the HSR again to go to Zuoying, and from there we met her friend who said would take us to Kenting. I'm not a huge fan of that guy, I'll explain a bit more later because I do not have so much time right now. In Kenting I got to ride on the back of a Jetski, some weird floaty thing and a banana boat! So fun! Also Cindy and I explored Kenting at night by a small scooter. There were so many stars, it was wonderful.
Right now I am staying at my 2nd Uncle's home. I really like spending time with them, they are all so nice...except they won't stop feeding me! "Tiffany are you hungry?" "No, thanks I am full :D" "okay...well, Do you want some fruit?" "no...I'm full"..."Hmm...How about a banana? Or would you like to eat some rice?" ::Sigh:: I know they love me and want to be full, but jeez guys! Haha It's always like this whenever I visit them. In hindsight it is quite funny, but in the moment all I can think is "omg, If I eat more I will explode and none of my clothes that I have packed will fit me anymore! ahhh!"
Today my Aunt and Uncle 2 brought me to see a big buddha. I really like seeing buddist temples and buildings because the inside is always so beautiful and very peaceful. There was a really amazing Koi Fish Pond full of lots of bright colored fish. I bought a small roll of fish food to feed them :)
It is soo hot outside, and the sun is so very very bright and intense. I'm taking a short break before runing out to a market to go shopping. Shopping here is so interesting because the clothes, jewelry and accessories are all very unique. Buying gifts is always fun. I love shopping here but I am worried that I will not be able to bring everything home to America! I'm sure I'll find a way to manage ;)
