Within half an hour of crossing the border from Nicaragua to Costa Rica we were all very aware that we had changed countries.  Costa Rica is definately more developed, more touristy and more expensive (way more so than we were expecting!!) and the roads are lovely (apart from near Monteverde)

Monteverde is based in the cloud forest and as we were driving around it we were treated to rainbows in the valleys!
We went zip-lining through the forest one morning which was great fun, although i did scream a lot on the tarzan swing (i dont like free falling like that!!)
I've also be to see lots of colourful frogs! and had a tour around a coffee plantation, so I now know all about coffee growing and got some free tasters (and some yummy homemade rice pudding!!).  I found it really interesting and was really impressed by how nothing is wasted (the red flesh of the berry is made into compost and the white shells protecting the beans are fed to the oxen).

The roads around here are very unpaved, but in some areas there has been definate damage from the recent earthquake, in some places near the epicentre the roads have completely fallen into the rivers.
