Saying goodbye to family and friends is always difficult. My dad went in for a hernia operation Monday. Complications arose late last night which cause him to have to be admitted to the emergency room. He's doing better since I left, but I'm still worried. I hate leaving him like that, but I know my mom will take good care of him.

When I arrived at the airport with my friend, Marcey, we had to lug my overweight luggage up to the check-in counter. The limit is 50 pounds, but I managed to squeeze in 68.5 lbs and 51.5 lbs in two of the three of my checked bags. Mind you, two bags are allowed, and the international price for hauling an extra bag is $127 extra, plus overweight fees ($50). I don't know if the agent felt bad for me, or didn't care, but he waived the fee for the extra bag and I only ended up paying $50.

After a sleepless night that followed a day which I somehow survived on three hours of sleep from the previous night, I finally got some shut-eye on the flight to Chicago. At the international gates in O'Hare, I met two nice ladies that will be cruising on the Constellation. Imagine that. Half of the people sitting at the gate are probably cruisers. Who knows?
