What I did
Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio; Shockolat
One thing I love about Milan, is how unassuming it can appear. My first impression of Milan three years ago was that it was a bit stuffy and on the whole, well, a bit boring. But in fact, you just have to look around a little and you can find many beautiful streets and buildings. Today I met up with Gianluca at Sant'Ambrogio station, planning to see the Science museum.. Unfortunately (for him), upon arriving I recognised that I had already been there on my first trip, so instead we went for a walk around the streets of Sant'Ambrogio and nearby Cadorna. The highlights of the walk were the Basilica, the Sacred Heart Catholic University and a private Catholic school. You often have to enter the courtyards to find the real treasures within (this normally requires Gianluca to convince me it is okay to enter, and then me trying to act as if I belong there but probably just looking guilty). Afterwards we visited a famous gelateria, Shockolat, where we opted for cheesecake this time instead of gelato, due to how COLD it was today (Gianluca estimated 2 degrees, while I estimated -2 degrees and the signs in the street insisted it was 7 degrees). Maybe next time I will have gelato though as inside it was very toasty, I was so comfortable I could happily set up camp there for the next four or five months :)
