Where I stayed
Las Cruces NM KOA
After a beautiful midday stop at White Sands (60 degrees, no wind, clear), we drove on to Las Cruces, phoning ahead to make a reservation at another KOA ("Campground of America"). Hated to do it but you know what you're getting, and this one was very well reviewed at an RV blog I've been checking. Elevation of 8650 ft. when we passed over at Cloudcroft; people were skiing at the top. Temp was a frosty 32 degrees. Las Cruces (New Mexico State Univ. - Isn't their basketball arena called the "Snakepit"?) KOA was up on a hillside above town. Close, but remote. Weather great.
