It was the strangest sensation, watching the sun set behind me over the Atlantic Ocean. And watching it rise rapidly in front of me just a few hours later. But, it was gorgeous and well worth the lack of sleep.

I am now in Germany. Sarah's flight was delayed in Columbia, so I was treated to a visit to the Admiral's Club and I got free snacks and drinks and comfy chairs thanks to the Frequent Flier Miles of Sarah's family.

I was so surprised once we left the city at how absolutely breath-taking the German countryside is! Yellow flowers, green fields, and giant windmills! Plus crops of every shape and size. And MOUNTAINS! I LOVE MOUNTAINS!

Even though I can't even pronounce most of the places we passed, I could see the red roofs of the houses. The Mediterranean style is so gorgeous. Especially on the winding roads with the houses set into the hills. I want to move here!

Another awesome thing Sarah and her family have pointed out is German appliances and inventions. Everyday things are different... Blinds built into windows, big light switches, towel heating racks, efficient toilets, the way windows open, even the awesome carts in the airport that adjust to go down escalators. Yes. You read that right. The giant carts for luggage can be pushed right onto the ESCALATOR. Not elevator. It was so cool!

I've also noticed how "green" Germans are compared to Americans. recycling is mandatory, there are windmills everywhere, toilets and washers use so much less water... It puts us to shame!

So, now I'm sitting outside on the terrace enjoying the beautiful weather!

More later!
