Where I stayed
Eagles rest park, then an apartment
304 mile ride from Anchorage to Valdez the road was rough with bumps across the highway about every 50 feet just enough rain to make you wear rain suits.
We seen glaciers along the way very beautiful and surreal with deep blue ice we went from 3400 feet to sea level. Valdez has mountains surrounding it with only one pass leading into town via the Richardson highway some places it wasn't over 150 feet wide for the road and the river (Thompson Pass).
The first night was a 12 x 12 cabin for 4 people for $160.00 everybody is here fishing including the bears. We found a better deal the next day we rented an apartment for the next two nights two bedrooms kitchen and living room furnished at a much better price.
Don and Bev went on a Glacier tour they saw whales, sea lions, otters, and 5 glaciers, Connie and I visited museums and cruised town seen a lot of native art Valdez history, and just generally rested and layed back, we cant keep up with those kids.
I will upload some more pictures later due to not being able to get on the Internet until late.
God Bless
