After a fair bit of city life in the last two places we all decided to hit the 'shack on the beach' tip Cambodian style. Headed over to Bamboo Island otherwise known as Phumi Kaoh Roessei, which is roughly an hour on a Cambodian long-tail. Not the fastest of boats compared to the Thai counterpart and a tad rough round the edges but it got us there just about. Phil and I were ridiculously hung over from our night out in Shianokville so were feeling literally every bump.

It's a military island funnily enough and when we landed the sergeant had just ordered about 30 soldiers to swim to the island (and back I guess) opposite the one we were staying on - bad rip currents here and easily 4-5 kilometres against the tide in 32 degree heat. Happy Mondays. Glad it wasn't us taking the plunge.
Did a fair bit of snorkelling and saw some decent multi-coloured coral formations but strangely not a great deal of fish and the visibility got progressively worse over our 3 days there. Plenty of sea urchins though, literally everywhere so you had to be careful when swimming with no mask as you could easily step on one and this place wasn't geared for occurrences that required medical treatment.
One annoying thing that kept happening was that during the course of the day boat loads of day trippers would turn up and kind of ruin the peace and tranquility that had been set earlier, still it was a good island, basic but good.

Had a wander about to the other side, pretty much the same as our side really but with a more expensive bungalow outfit, a sunset and an annoying trustafarian kid with a mohican who was just like totally craaaazy and had been on the island for months apparently.

Not much else to report bar a very boozy night with a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka, Havana Club Especial Anejo and Absolut and lots and lots of relaxing. Nice island but have been to much better on this trip, particularly on the Andaman Coast in Thailand.
