Getting there and back was a bit of a mission -bus, train, metro, walk (until gave up trying to find the shuttle bus office), taxi, flight, taxi. I repeated all this between 12.30-9am returning home but ended up dropped off by the shuttle bus at 4am in an empty intersection in the rain and unsure of exactly which city I was in and which direction to go.... all turned out fine.
It was fabulous to soak in some sun, to see blue sky and go swimming. The beach swarmed with Russians in speedos however there were Chinese sections of the beach which were far better people watching value. Cute old people diving into the sand and sprinkling over themselves with such joy and couples in matching island outfits were most amusing.
I borrowed a bike one morning and took off for a crusy ride around a nearby pennisula. However steep hills and sandy dirt roads, weren't what I had in mind and I knew I was roughing it as tourists passed in buses and locals on motorbikes. Was real nice though to get away from the tourist areas and see some of the local life.
Back in the cold Changzhou now, there's talk of snow but fortunately none yet. We've less than 2 weeks of teaching left -its going so fast- and only 3 weeks til I'm home! Bit longer for Heath. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
