Yesterday, I was about to give up...and sometimes thought about letting the whole thing go up in flames.
thanks to Jim Yaiser, I have been given a second chance on getting to Reno. Jim arranged for a friend from the San Diego area to drive to Corona, pick up a tire and tube, brake lines and fittings and driving the several hundred miles across the desert to Blythe. What an angel whose name is Tom Valenzia Jim's friend is.
Today the part time mechanic showed up who has experience working on Pitts and other airshow airplanes (He was a mechanic for Joe Hughes) and he was a big help. We cleaned off all the fire/smoke debris, mounted the tire, fixed the lines, bled brakes and have the bird ready for flight. Tomorrow I am heading direct for Reno with a fuel stop in Mojave.
Things look a lot brighter today...Hurray
