We have now tried to make two dinner reservations for tonight but both were closed. At my parents' hotel they said they knew of at least a few places that are open so we are headed over to their place in Palermo, a neighborhood I have not spent much time in, to enjoy their rooftop pool and have a lowkey holiday.

James is in a two hour private session with his Spanish instructor and let me take this moment to brag on my husband because he has been working very hard on learning the language. Though he has gotten frustrated with the grammar and sometimes the pronunciation, he has not gotten frustrated with my trying to help. That's been great, because we all know how much James likes being corrected. (um, NOT AT ALL....)

The highlight today was a family trip to JUMBO (previously mentioned in this blog also with wonder and awe) which sells insane amounts of groceries plus a bunch of other stuff, a Super Walmart if you will. But after weeks of tiny corner markets, the selection was a bit mindblowing.   We picked up some food to make Christmas Eve dinner at our place since most of the restaurants we saw that were staying open had extensive and expensive set menus in place.

We had a great meal at the apartment, and a malbec tasting, a rousing round of Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture (which I won!!) and then Christmas Eve services at Peachtree Presbyterian via webcast.
