. We then went under the floating platform and saw tuna on one side and small fish on the other. Some of the fish were bait fish and salmon. There were other fish but I cannot remember the name of the other species. Then we walked up the stairs to the touch pool. We saw some scallops. There were king scallops and queen scallops. The man told us that the queen scallop has two rounded shells and is purple in the middle. The king scallop has a flat shell and a rounded shell and is orange in the middle. He also said we could cook the scallops and eat them. We were able to pick them up and eat them. There was also a shark egg in the touch pool. It was like a screwdriver. The Port Jackson shark is the only shark that lays an egg.
Then we had to get onto the boat and set-off again. The boat then drove past all of Port Lincoln. We saw a large grain carrier being loaded up. The ship has a line on the side and when the water level reaches the line then the ship is full. We went past lots of fishing boats. Some had reached their quota and were not able to go back fishing until December. We went past the jetty and saw a seal sleeping. The driver said that this bay is the second largest fishing bay in the world and is 5 times the size of Sydney Harbour. I had great fun on the boat today.
Me and Dad fixed the fishing lines and went down to the water to fish this afternoon. We didn’t catch anything.
Today was a fantastic day. We drove to the super big marina. We got aboard the boat and I was amazed. There was a shop in there and also a toilet, and my sister, Alex got to drive the boat. We set out of the marina at 4 knots and then we got quicker as we left the marina. We saw some tuna and mussel farms. They farm 150 thousand mussels on the farms. We got off the boat onto the floating platform. Me and Mum got dressed into wetsuits, goggles, snorkels, boots and gloves. I went into the water and looked under the water at the bluefin tuna. The tuna were very large about the size of Alex and some were even bigger than me. Then I went in the medium pool and saw a Port Jackson shark. It wasn't a large one like a tiger shark. The Port Jackson shark was a bit like a stingray. They have small teeth and they don’t bite people as they always stay on the bottom of the ocean. The man said they are ground feeders. I got to touch the shark. Then I got out and got changed because it was very cold
