It rained loads last night. Im guessing Leigh didnt sleep to well because it took 3 attempts(over 1 hour) to wake him before he finally got up and its not like were up at the crack of dawn either. I had to go sit on top of a dried up river looking over the waterfalls mouth into some bush as it was starting to really annoy me. Regardless i reheated his porridge before i went to relax.
We saw a bird catch some sort of other bird and crash land in a field when we finally got back on the road, it was pretty cool but i felt a bit bad for the smaller bird.
1st stop was Busselton. Now we thought we'd already seen the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere but apparently we were wrong.
This jetty was 1.84kilometers long and you had to pay $2.50 to walk it but it was a nice morning so we went ahead and did it. Koen & Ryanne came with us to do the walk which was pretty cool.
Towards the end of the jetty were Chinese people fishing. They seemed to be catching little fish all the quite often. I also spoke to an old foreign guy who was fishing for squid. He had some hooks lined up over the edge of the jetty and was waiting for a bite, if thats what squid do. No luck though.
We got some lunch, said goodbye to K & R as they were heading to perth to sell their car/get a job, whichever comes first as they are desperate for money now and we headed to Bunbury.
After arriving & getting details from the tourist info we decided the best thing to do in Bunbury was to goto the Bigswamp National Park. We got there just as a bird was attacked outside by another bird or 2. It was thrown into a fence, we shooed the other birds away from it but it had no tail feathers left and blood on its chest. We went inside to ask about helping it bu byt the time we came back out it had died!! Nice story there.lol.
Anyways, Bigswamp. You are allowed to feed the animals, birds in the park when you buy a bag of food. I bought 2 as they were only $1 each. We fed some tropical looking birds in the aviary and talked to local guy who just moved to the area but brings his kid all the time as he loves to feed the birds and then headed outside where i was attacked by a goose while on the phone to Andrea. I was teasing the goose with the food bag though and it was running after it and jumping to get it which was unexpected but funny.
We went into another aviary and then went to feed the kangaroo's. The kangaroos were in a fenced off area. We stayed there with them for about 30mins. There were some bigger ones and some baby's. One baby in particular came and hugged your arm as it ate the food from your hand. It was so adorable. It turns out it was raised by people as they hit its mother on the road and took it home and raised it before it came here so it was pretty tame. Leigh went to feed one of the bigger kangaroo's which got a bit of agro when he ran out of food and stood on its back legs and tail like it was going to kick out. I warned Leigh and started to go over to him as it was pulling at the paper food bag and scratching his arm and the Kangaroo actually turned and ran at me chasing me for a little bit. Bloody things. Leighs arm was scratched and cut though. We saw emu's, wallabies and some more birds before getting Leighs arm cleaned and heading to Heidi's.
Heidi was a girl from the HOT FM morning radio show who we(Leigh) befriended in Kalgoorlie. She said it was cool for us to crash at her place tonight and said she would cook us dinner. Sounded good to me. We got there to find her and her house mates having a few beers. Beer was offered our way so we accepted. We showered, had some spaghetti bolognese, had a few more beers and talked about travelling. We watched couples retreat & the hurt locker before everyone retired to bed. Pretty cool that were in a radio presenters house though.
What an awesome end to an awesome road trip!!
