Today we woke to a beautiful sunny day and decided to visit Montreux, famous for it's annual jazz festival. It was a pretty town, on the north eastern side of Lake Geneva (the side which bathes in the sunshine which probably explains why it was surrounded by hilly vineyards) with a lovely promenade along the lake that provided a perfect spot to stroll and take in the magnificent Alpine views. The eastern side of Lake Geneva has magnificent views of the Alps, moreso than on the western side (Geneva) so all we felt inclined to do was wander around and drink in the views.

We had lunch in an Italian restaurant down by the lake. The girls ordered margherita pizza which arrived in the shape of a rabbit, which delighted them. It was really good pizza, and now Daniel feels he has to up the ante a little as far as his pizza presentation goes. Daniel went with the marinara pizza which was loaded with delicious seafood and he was very pleased with it. I had the spaghetti marinara which was not the best I have eaten but still managed to hit the spot. (I'm trying not to lapse into writing about food but for Daniel and I the food and beverage record of the journey is a large part of our daily celebration).

After lunch we took a walk along the promenade to take in the magnificent views. I'll let the pictures do the talking this time, for it was all about the lake (which is very clean and clear, which is not surprising given it's source is the Alps), and those glorious mountains. I'm sure much will be lost in terms of perspective but it's the best my little I-phone can do.
