2006 has begun! We had an awesome New Years celebration with some of our friends from back home. With a perfect view to the Harbour Bridge we enjoyed the fireworks and the wine we had brought(hidden in the salad). It was a great start to the new year, and Mari B and Ane did a cart wheel into 2006, its the start of an era.
In this new era, we kicked off by going camping outside Sydney. The Emery family took us, and we spent three wonderful days waterskiing, wakeboarding, playing volleyball and barbequeing. It was great fun, and we were sad to leave Caitlin, Sam & Co when we left for Brisbane. However, almost as soon as we got there we bumped in to Sanna&Ben, our friends from back home, and we took a few minutes to scream and shout before we went for dinner. The day after, we met up with beloved Lauren againg, and with her we headed for Noosa, Hervey Bay and Fraser Island, where we spent the past three days camping and driving in the sand with a pink four wheel drive. The trip was loads of fun for everyone, except maybe Lauren who managed to get 50 insect bites on one foot and turn dark pink because of her everlasting enemy the sun.
20 kilos lighter(worth of sand, most of it in our ears) Fraser Island waved us goodbye and we headed back to our quite fancy hostel in Hervey Bay and had dinner with our felloc Dougies, what a feast! Also met an old aboriginal man who were quite eager to take a picture with us and we got to try our digeridoo skills. Need big lungs for that instrument! And no wonder why you have to sit while playing it, so heavy!
Next on our schedule is Aerlie Beach where we'll hopefully meet up with Sann&Ben again. After some days there we're off sailing for a couple of days around the Whitsundays, looking forward to white sand and crystal clear water!
But at first we're jumping on a Greyhoundbus, hopefully tired enough to get some sleep considering we're stuck there for the next 13hrs.
