Well this was random. We were playing pool in Puerto Iguacu, and Brooksy comes up to me with the Lonely Planet, and says "Hey Tom, wanna go to Uruguay for a few days?". So we did. After the most luxurious bus I've ever been on (massive comfy seats, nibbles, drinks, meals, almost full seat reclining action, blankets, awesome bus suspension), we arrived in Buenos Aires, and caught the next ferry over the Rio de Plata to Uruguay. Arrived in Montevideo (Uruguay's capital) not really knowing what to expect.

What we got was a whole lot of white people (hardly any native amerindians), lots of european-style architecture and city layout, reasonably cheap everything, but not a whole lot to actually do! We ate some huge meaty meals, played a fair bit of pool, went bowling, walked around the streets looking for fake brandname clothing, and relaxed also.
We were going to go to the beach on our 2nd day there, but it started raining and was cold and wet so that plan kinda died. The nightlife on Tuesday and Wednesday nights was clearly either nonexistent or just not where we happened to look. Uruguay has some top-notch beer though, for anyone who cares.

Didn't get to rub in the whole Soccer World Cup thing to many Uruguayans, a taxi driver and a waiter and that's about all, i'll probably go back in a few weeks to try and rectify that. Well, back to Uruguay, probably not Montevideo, but other beach towns further along the coast.
