We began today with a delicious "campermade" breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits and cantaloupe. Since we are usually up and on our way with something quick to eat, this was a treat. We left the KOA in Moab and drove to Arches National Park. I should have known better than to complain about cool/cold temperatures recently – it was almost 100 degrees and only 11am! As a good southern girl would say, I was beginning to glisten!

The park was an incredible thirty-six mile loop through gorgeous red rock mountains and canyons. We made several stops along the way to see some amazing structures. One was called “Balanced Rock” and it was just that. Imagine a tall rectangular block with an enormous round rock sitting slightly off center on top. It defies logic how this could happen! It looks as though it could topple over at any moment. We made another stop to see several natural made arches; most notably, the Delicate Arch which is pictured on the Utah state license tag. We have seen so many amazing sites on our journey. Who could doubt there is a creator?

We left the red rocks and canyons and headed to Colorado. As we drove along, we could not help but notice that though the rocks, canyons and formations were simply awesome, there was no green. There were no plants or trees other than cactus looking growth on the ground. We are so spoiled to green grass and beautiful trees at home, this would not seem like a place we could live.

As we entered Colorado the outside temperature was 102, and we had a two hour drive to reach Vail. In those two hours, several things happened. The desert, arid land of Utah turned to green, water appeared again in the Colorado River that we drove along beside for many miles, and the temperature dropped to a nice seventy degrees. We reached Walmart in Beaver Creek as the rain began to pour. We cooked dinner, packed, completed some school and office work and then watched some television before turning in for the night. We are excited to begin our vacation in Vail!
