Day 6
Thursday 29th September
Hello,
After finishing up at Chris' last night we then went off on a boat trip up the Mekong River for an hour. That only cost US $10 for the entire boat to ourselves so that was very special. Karl was very excited when he noticed a twister forming from some storm clouds in the distance. However, it disappeared after about 5 minutes, much to Karl's disappointment, and came no-where near us. Our trip went for an hour we got some great views of boat houses and living conditions along the river.

We walked back to the hotel and had a quick dinner before knocking off for the night. We woke up this morning at around 3.30-4.00 am, so that we could depart the hotel by 4:15 am. When we were on our way we noticed that half of Phnom Phen was already up and about, starting their days early with preying, going to school and staring work. We went out to the old capital of Cambodia, Oudong, where we climbed up approximately 1,230 steps to a temple from which we could watch the sun rise and hear the monks chanting down below. From being up so high we could see everything, the view was amazing. This place was very special and we got some gorgeous photos! We then climbed all the way down again and back on the bus to the hotel.

Once back to L'Oasis we all went straight back to bed and had a good sleep. Waking up at around 12.00 noon we had a nice lunch/breakfast and then jumped on the bus to go to the Lavalla School. There were only 2 residents there who were graduates with no home to go back to, but we gave our gifts to Brother Daryl so that the children would get them when they returned. We then went for a nice swim in the schools pool and Karl and Lee loved finding the dead crab and 5 dead frogs...eewww!!

Seeing as we were all exhausted, we cancelled any plans for the rest of the day and just spent a nice quiet evening at home (L'Oasis). We've had a yummy dinner and are now at an internet café.
Talk to you all soon,
love TCCCC

Sounds like the journey is going splendidly!
Hi everyone,
It certainly seems like you are all having a wonderful time. The river cruise really sounded special - and the early morning trek/climb to view the sunrise must have been hard work - but well worth the effort - the view was spectacular! Keep enjoying every minute.
Cheers, Fiona (Rhiannon's mum)
