Where I stayed
Day 2.... We made it to the convent!
Today, started off early again! We had a great breakfast at our previous hote of homemade omlets and delicious pasteries. Before we even ventured down to breakfast, we had a realxing bath in our jet spa tubs. Just a little pampering before our hard week of work to come!
After breakfast, we had a couple hour ride before we went hiking. We went for a 2km hike in the Habitat del Quetzal. It was a beautiful nature perserve with a hike thourgh a "cloud forest". Well worth the hike to see the rain forest.
After our little hike, we had a short ride to our hotel which was a former convent. We had a nice relaxing lunch and all had the opportunity of trying some yummy rice milk with cinnamon. Then it was time to check in before meeting the family we will be building with.
This week we will be building a home for a family of 7. We had the opportunity to meet the Mom and two daughters in the family. We enjoyed an afternoon of coffee and cake with the family and our boss for the week.
Then it was time to explore the city of Coban! We had a walk through the local market. Then down to the town square and time to start buying! Yes, some of us needed to add to our jewelry collection!
With darkness approaching, it was time to head back to the hotel. Time for a lttile r&r and emailing.
Stay posted for tomorrow's adventures!
