Where I stayed
Silverpoint Hotel, Christ Church, Barbados
So I went to Barbados after the completion of the first job. I flew Karla down while we were on stanby and the delay ended up lasting until my availability was up, so I left Barbados without even starting the second job that we originally planned to do.
We were set up in a really nice place overlooking the beach. On the first day Karla and I just sat around and enjoyed the weather and each others company after being apart for so long.
The Second day we got up early and did a snorkeling lunch cruise. We boarded a big sailing catamaran and set off to snorkel with the Turtles, see a reef and a wreck, then sail back to Bridgetown.
On the next day we took our rental car around the whole island. Karla did the navigating and I have to give her props on the best navigation experience so far. (granted, we were on an island...but, it's the thought that counts) We found some nice beaches to sit at and swim at, we had a picnic lunch and thoroughly enjoyed each other as we toured the island from top to bottom.
On the last full day we toured the Mount Gay Rum factory and saw a bit of Downtown Bridgetown, it's a really cool town with lots of History. I didn't know that Barbados is one of the only islands to never change hands in colonial times. It's been called "Little England" and I can understand why they wanted to keep control of the island. Barbados is almost completely self sufficent, their largest money generator is tourism. The hotels are usually better than average and the service is great. I totally suggest this to anyone looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle. Check out the pictures for more good times.
