August 30th (Day 60)- Today I just relaxed and slept in, I took the day off and went to the beach. With everything around me it would be wrong not to enjoy the beautiful waves. I sat around the beach from 2:00 pm to about 6:30 pm and then my cousin whom I have never met before gave me a phone call. My mom gave her my information via email and informed her the reason for my visit to Cape Verde.

Her name is Neusa and she works for the Peace corps. She took me out to dinner and we had this amazing dish of fish and I must get the name of the restaurant from her for when I return. So Neusa if your reading this, I need that restaurant name. We talked about how our journey's are somewhat similar and she told me all about her decision to move to Africa from the United States. She shared so many stories of how she has visited so many places in the world and I was jealous to say the least. After a great meal and an even better conversation with my cousin, she took me to a performance at the "Cultura de France" where there was a live performance of African music and dance. The place was packed and the President of Cape Verde was in the building himself.

Last night was amazing, I will be honest it is early the next morning and I am writing about my day, a day late. I could not type yesterday because there was too much sand at the beach, and I was too busy experiencing the culture of Africa. Don’t be too jealous. I will post a small video of the artists’ performing.
